Who'd have actually thought this was possible? For the longest time I thought Alaska and Time Cone were inseparable.
But today was quite eventful and pivotal for Philippine hoops' history.
Fred Uytengsu confirms Tim Cone's release as he would want to explore other options and challenge himself.
"This has been emotional. I don't know at this point. The first thing that needed to be done is to do this in a professional manner." , Tim Cone in a press conference late this afternoon today.
"At this point if I knew this was gonna be this emotionally hard, I probably would have not taken the first step." Admitting that he has yet to see the players until before the press conference started, not being able to say goodbye just yet.
When asked about coaching offers from BMEG, Cone says he has not been given an offer. He feels there are opportunities out there but nothing really firm.
Assistant coach Joel Banal shall assume head coach duties and will most likely have Jojo Lastimosa as his first assistant coach. Cone has always told Banal that he's too good to play back up for him.
"The hardest thing right now is leaving the players. I don't want them to feel I'm abandoning them. It's a truly difficult process." Cone, was quite certain that nothing will overshadow the relationships he has built. "I've been married to Alaska longer than I've been married to my wife.", he gushes.
